Bala Lake 

More than four miles long and one mile wide, Bala Lake is the largest natural lake in Wales. Steeped in history and local legends, this lake is renowned for its crystal clear water and mountain scenery. As a perfect watersports location, Bala lake is a popular destination amongst paddle boards, swimmers and sailors alike. Keep an eye out for a glimpse of rare wildlife that is regularly spotted around the lake and make sure you visit the Warden’s Centre before setting off to get your permit. 

Barafundle Bay

Cardigan Bay

If paddle boarding alongside seals and dolphins sounds like a great day out then you might want to visit Cardigan Bay in Ceredigion with your paddle board. In calm weather conditions, Cardigan Bay makes for a relaxing spot for beginners to get to grips with the fundamentals of paddle boarding whilst exploring a number of secluded bays. If you have a bit more experience under your belt, the Bay is home to a number of coastlines and estuaries to keep your visit exciting. 

River Wye 

For a scenic and relaxing paddle boarding experience, visit the River Wye along the border of Wales and neighbouring England. Over 130 miles long, there are a number of places along the river that are ideal for paddle boarding. If you are undecided on a particular route, there are a number of guided paddle board trips that you can book on to in order to experience the best that River Wye has to offer. These trips range from guided taster sessions up to two-day long paddle boarding trips for those who are a bit more experienced.
