Buying Advice

Which board is right for me?

To determine which board you need, you must first think about your primary use of the board.

Is this for leisure paddling? Longer paddle adventures? Racing your friends down the river? Surfing the waves? To take your dog out? Use it on the sea or to do yoga?

Once you know this, you can narrow down your options and decide depending on stability, manoeuvrability and speed.

If you haven't already, check out our Perfect Paddleboard Calculator!

You will want to take into consideration the paddler weight (and height to a degree).

Generally, a shorter, lighter paddler may benefit from our smaller SUP - Aquaplanet All Round Ten. Most paddlers will suit a 10'6 SUP - so check out the Aquaplanet Max and Pace SUP's. A longer SUP can be a good option for taller or heavier paddlers. These are also great for gliding, so good for longer river paddles.

What is the difference between the Max and Pace?

The MAX and PACE vary slightly in terms of speed and stability, but both are great beginner boards!

Broadly – the MAX is a ‘mountain bike’ the PACE is a ‘racer’, so your choice depends on your style of paddling and expected use.

The MAX has the rounded 'Allround' nose shape, which lends itself for use as more of a leisure board. It is also a slightly more stable board- therefore a little less manoeuvrable than the PACE.

The 10'6 MAX has a single centre fin whereas the 11'8 has 3 removeable fins. Both have the classic crossover bungees at the front for stowage.

Both the PACE boards (10'6 & 11'8) have 3 removeable fins, a 2-strap front stowage system, which incorporates a bottle holder as well. Plus the finish on the PVC of the PACE is textured with a unique carbon design.

If you are looking for a leisure board for gentle paddling, taking out a dog or more deck space for Yogo, then the MAX is a great option.

The PACE offers a little more fun as you develop skills – slightly more manoeuvrable and quicker but a shade more balance required. The PACE is also a better option if you are planning on paddling in the sea or on choppy waters, as the pointed nose allows it to cut through these conditions with ease. You may also find it more rewarding once you progress past the novice phase.

Having said that, they are both aimed at novices and either board will certainly give you lots of rewarding paddling!

Can you recommend a paddleboard for yoga?

When choosing a good board for Yoga, usually you will be looking for something that provides good stability so that you can confidently complete your moves on the water.

Stability comes from the board width. Consider this in comparison with the paddler size as well (a smaller paddler, can get away with a narrower board).

For super stability, our SEEKER is a great option. It is 34" wide, 10'8 long and 6 " thick.

For lighter paddlers, up to 100kg, the ALLROUND is 33" wide, 10 foot long and 6" thick, so lots of space the move around on deck.

If you prefer length and width, the MAX PLUS is 32" wide, 11'8 long and 6" thick.
